	General information top You can achieve the best view of the PROLEARN Virtual Competence Centre with the Internet Explorer starting with version 5.0, the Netscape Communicator starting with version 6.1 and Opera starting with version 6.0 on; with a screen resolution of 1024x768px. On the top of each site you will find the features prolearn-project, imprint, sitemap and terms of service. On the right side there is furthermore a channel- and club-selector enabling you to switch between PROLEARN Virtual Competence Centre and Knowledge Work Management. The main menu is on the top of the webpage the menu point were you are, is coloured. Below the main menu in the centre of the page you can find a short description of the channel and of course the content of the menu point you are in. The Virtual Competence Centre includes the following channels: home, news, projects, publications, events, services, prolearn network, expert talks, surveys, members, downloads and links. If you have clicked on the menu point "news" for instance there is a short description of what you can find within this channel and below the contents are listed. You have further the possibility to sort the content within a channel descending or ascending either by how many visitors have regarded a post, by the date it was uploaded, by its headline or by the language it was written in. The sub menu on the right side serves for searching and registration/login. The search area allows visitors to find it quickly and easily what they are looking for. The registration on the PROLEARN Virtual Competence Centre is free of charge. If you aren't a member yet, please click on the "to register" button. An entry mask opens up, into which you are asked to enter your data. Fields marked with an asterisk are mandatory ones; yet, please make sure that the entered information is complete. Now just click "save" and you are registered as a new member. If you are already a member of the Virtual Competence Centre you only have to log in - enter user name and password - to gain free access to all areas and be able to download documents. In addition the button "password forgotten" assists you if you have forgotten your user name and/or your password. The easy and fast password service for already registered users of the community will help you. Just follow these steps: 1. Click the "password forgotten" button, top right on your monitor 2. Enter the e-mail address that you used for your account and click "ok". 3. Your password will be within minutes automatically sent to your e-mail address. On the right side you can find further a list with the latest entries on the Virtual Competence Centre, for instance "latest news", "latest events" etc. On the left hand you find statistical information about the Virtual Competence Centre, i.e. the number of entries in the different channels of the Virtual Competence Centre. If you are logged in, it is also visible how many new entries have been uploaded since your last visit. Below you can find the current top-poll. That means that here visitors are asked to answer a question, dealing in some way with professional learning by clicking on the corresponding button. Aside from taking part in the poll himself, the visitor can also regard the already generated results. The last area - top-forums - shows the ongoing discussions of the week. The top forums are interlinked, so that, if you want to take part in one of those, just click on the link and you can either only read what other members have written. If you are logged-in you can above this also add new discussion boards or propose new forums.
	Personal page top If you are logged-in you can participate in chats and community features like personal page and profile. PROLEARN Virtual Competence Centre is designed in bilingual manner, regarding both contents and interface. By clicking on one of the two flags in the main menu, you can change between German and English language. As a registered member you have on the one side the possibility to download documents and on the other side you can upload news, events, documents yourself. Uploading information and papers to the PROLEARN Virtual Competence Centre is due to its high degree of standardisation very easy; that means uploading follows always the same patterns, no matter if you want to upload an event, a publication or a project. To upload please take these necessary steps: 1. Log in: Enter your user name and your password 2. Click on the corresponding channel in which you would like to upload e.g. "news" 3. Click on the "add news" button top right on your monitor and the entry masks opens up 4. Enter the questioned information e.g. title, abstract, date, place etc. (fields marked with an asterisk are mandatory ones) and click "save". 5. Now your news is uploaded. 6. By clicking "edit" you have now still the possibility to change something, if desired.
