REFOCUS senioR Employees training on information and CommUnication technologieS (5369 visitors)
REFOCUS is a project on innovation in training. The expected innovative contribution relates to the method adopted in the training, which is particularly focused on eLearning, and to the target population, which is a specific category of workers, those aged over 45 years, who are highly affected by the demographic and social changes in Europe.

project description
According to the most up-to-date sociological studies, the process of professional development presents a turning point around the age of 45. To maintain a professional relevance, it is imperative that workers undergo a process of continuous training, which will help them to keep up with the constantly changing business market and to contribute to innovation within their companies. The REFOCUS project’s main objective is the definition and implementation of a model for a learning system for the workers over 45, designed according to the most innovative technologies and approaches, which will be tested through classroom and e-Learning training activities for the personnel of the companies involved. This learning system aims to contribute to the “refocusing” of the specialized skills of workers with a technical background, refreshing their qualification in the field of new technologies, so that they can redefine their profile in their company and take on new professional roles. It is a transnational (Italy and the UK), 24-month project, which involves universities, vocational training institutions and organizations linked with the local industry, and it is addressed to workers over 45 from any industrial sector. The companies which will participate in the project, besides being part of an initiative of great innovation, will also benefit from the assessment of their workers’ skills, which will be carried out in the initial phase of identification of the participants in the courses, and receive a free training for the selected employees. The main objective of the project is responding to the priority sub-topic of “raising the awareness of the potential of older workers” (from Article 6 call for proposals). The innovative contribution of REFOCUS relates to the method in the training, focused on e-Learning, and to the target population of the training, which is a specific category of workers, those aged over 45 years, who are highly affected by the demographic and social changes in Europe. The assumption of REFOCUS is that e-Learning is a proper means for this kind of training, for what concerns both its addressees and its contents.
